Why I’m Creating a Women’s Career Support Group, and Why We Need It!

I’ve spent over two decades in professional spaces where I was often one of the only women at the table. I even learned how to play golf, badly, I’ll admit, just to join in on the conversations and camaraderie that often happened off the clock. I wasn’t trying to change who I was. I just didn’t want to miss out on the connections that shaped decisions.

But over time, I learned something important: I will never be one of the boys. And that’s okay. What matters more is being true to who I am. I am a woman who has spent over 25 years focused on my career, and balancing that as a mom. Sometimes I had a supportive husband, and other times I did not. Regardless, It's not always easy. I'm not saying it's easy for men either. But we do face different challenges. The list is long.

One example: As women, we’re raised to feel deeply. We’re taught to nurture, to hold space, to manage emotions, our own and others’. And while that emotional intelligence is often a strength, it often clashes with corporate culture, where emotion is seen as a liability.

This contradiction leaves us trying to walk a fine line: feeling what we feel, but not too much; caring deeply, but not appearing “too emotional.”

We also carry a mental and emotional load outside of work that rarely gets discussed. We manage homes, raise children, support loved ones, and still meet deadlines and KPIs. Some of us have partners who show up with us in it, others are doing it alone. Either way, it’s a lot. And few people ask how we’re managing it all.

That’s why I’m creating this group.

This is not a place to complain. It’s a place to process. To reflect. To ask real questions like: How do I navigate this situation with integrity? How do I bring my whole self into my career without being dismissed or misunderstood? It’s a space to talk about what we’re carrying, and how to carry it more wisely.

This group is also rooted in gratitude. I’ve had the honor of being mentored and supported by many incredible women, and just as many thoughtful, generous men. This is not a group about exclusion or blame. It’s about inclusion, honesty, and honoring the full truth of women’s experiences.

I have so much respect for the men: husbands, colleagues, and mentors, who’ve stood beside me with respect and encouragement. This isn’t about diminishing their role. It’s about amplifying the voice that only women can truly speak from, and making space for those stories to be shared, supported, and understood.

So this group is my way of paying it forward. For every woman who’s navigating these questions. For every one of us trying to do it all and do it well. And for all the lessons I’ve learned - whether I got it right the first time or figured it out in hindsight.

You’re not alone in this. And you don’t have to figure it out alone either.

If that speaks to you, you’re welcome here.

The meetings will be on Tuesdays at 12:00 EST and will have the same link weekly.
