$100K, and a new video for you

My client just landed her first deal, and it's six-figures. A rare startup milestone. Plus, a new video Short on why pressure kills a sale, and what to do instead.

Here I am being totally grateful for A.I. - I love the photos it creates in minutes. Fantastic!

Hello Friends and Colleagues,

I love writing this kind of blog. Simply stated: I love to win. It's not ego when it's meaningful.

A client win worth celebrating:

I want to brag on someone other than myself for a minute. My client of nine months just closed her first deal, and it was six figures. I coached her from ground zero, she executed, she won her first pilot only two months ago, and the district agreed the product was worth it, buying it for twenty-two schools last week. I could not be prouder. I will share more details once implementation is complete.

Even in my greatest startup success at ClassWallet, my first deal was seven hundred dollars. Six figures is almost unheard of for a first contract in EdTech. Congratulations to my client, and IYKYK. Supporting and advising her from ideation to go to market framework to winning that first deal is exactly why I do this work.

If you're working toward your own first big number, know that it's absolutely within reach if you are filling a need and have identified your product market fit. It starts with the conversation, and connecting with the client, not the close.

New on YouTube: a tutorial Short:

I also just posted a new short-form video tutorial on my Rainmaker Conversations with Melody YouTube channel. This one gets into something every salesperson runs into and few understand: why pressure kills a deal, and what your prospect's brain is actually doing when it feels cornered. I walk through the fix, which isn't pushing harder. It's painting a clear picture of where they're headed if they say yes.

Here is the video:

It's short, it's practical, and it's built on the same H.I. — Human Ingenuity — principles behind everything I teach. AI can write the email. It cannot read the room. That's still on us.

If this blog is landing well with you, forward it to someone building their sales career or leading a sales team right now. They'll thank you for it, and so will I!

Warmly, Melody Sandberg-McDonald
